FAQs
What topics can I ask about here?
Questions that generally cover the work of MPs and the House of Parliament as a whole. Also, questions about emerging issues within your constituency.
What types of questions should I avoid asking?
You should always ask practical and answerable questions that relate to the constitutional work of MPs. Avoid asking questions outside our scope or those whose answers you should already have found on the website. Your questions should be reasonably scoped. Questions that need additional work or that are not a good fit for this site may be put on hold. While questions are on hold, they cannot be answered, but you can edit to make them eligible for reopening and responding.

What if I disagree with the closure of a question? How to reopen it?
If you see information and you disagree with the stated reason of it’s closure, you can ask for it to be reopened. Closed information that receives requests for reopening within the first 5 days of closure are automatically put into a review queue to be considered for reopening. Alternatively, leave a comment on the information itself for it to be re-opened. Explain why you need it to be opened.
Why do I see a message that my question does not meet standards?
If you see this message, then your question was automatically blocked by the server. All new questions are subjected to a ‘minimal quality’ check that filters for basic indicators of a good question.
Why are some questions marked as duplicate?
Once you repeat a question, it is marked as duplicate. Marking a question as duplicate is also part of the question closing procedures.
Why are questions no longer being accepted from my account?
If a user cannot prove that his/her contributions and engagements is making the site better, then he/she will be blocked from asking further questions/engaging until he/she demonstrates ability to engage in an acceptable manner.
Why is the system asking me to wait a day before asking another?
You may be asked to wait because the site could have reached a limit for you to ask another question. It could also be that you have asked questions already asked by members, so, it’s time to take a short break and have a closer look around the site. You may discover that many questions have been asked and answered before. It could also be that you’ve asked a number of questions, some of which were not very well-received by the community. Once you discover this, go back to your question and edit and present it in an acceptable manner.
How do I ask a good question?
There are various ways to ask a question and a user might not be able to find the answer if he/she is asking it a certain way. However, we have laid out a simple procedure for you to follow which is directly accessible through the Ask your MP menu bar. Once there, you will see at the extreme left-hand corner, a dropdown menu labelled ask a question. You can also access this if you scroll down on the right-hand corner of the website.
What should I do when someone answers my question?
Once someone responds to your question, go ahead and reply with a thank you or a further response depending on what it demands. Some answers however do not need any further response.
